taco trucks at every mosque creates a safe space that celebrates communities by finding common ground and breaking bread with tortillas.

“Breaking bread” or having communal meals is a well recognized universal practice and unifying tradition across all religions and cultures for the purposes of fostering fellowship, understanding, building sisterhood and brotherhood.

#TacoTrucksAtEveryMosque is a community building partnership between "the taco truck at every corner", a halal meat market, a local Mosque and local Latino and Muslim communities to celebrate one another’s identity and tradition in the holy month of Ramadan.

#Tacotrucksateverymosque inspired a cultural revolution with their California Statewide tour, building brides by taco trucks across California mosques in the cities of Santa Ana, Garden Grove, Los Angeles, Saramento, Corona, Temecula, Yorba Linda, Riverside, San Diego and even crossing the Mexican border to a mosque in Rosarito fighting hate one halal taco at a time.

This project has brought together over 500,000 halal tacos over the last five years and have inspired folks in Milwaukee and Texas to particpate in the grassroots LATINO AND MUSLIM coalition building movement.

The goal is to unite communities to learn from one another, heal and fight injustices facing both communities by redefining their identities through positive social, cultural, and economic change.

Together, Latinos and Muslims invite allies to build and empower communities that have been demonized by false narratives in the media. Together, we aim to:

  • Shatter stereotypes of Muslim and Latino communities.

  • Decrease stigma between Latinos and Muslims in the Community.

  • Connect communities: Studies show if you know a Muslim or Latino, you are less likely to buy into the fear-mongering in the media

  • Educate communities to help better understand that Muslims are not monolithic. Islam represents 2 billion people worldwide. The largest Muslim populaton worldwide are Asians and the largest Muslim population in the U.S. are black muslims who date back to before the founding of the United States. The fastest growing Muslim populations in America are Latinos.

  • Empower mosques and their neighboring communities to collectively encourage civic engagement, promote access to healthcare for all, voter turnout to the polls and build economic, social and community development
